The 5 Best Hyatt Hotels in Boston for Tourists, Paying with Points, and More!
Boston is one of the most interesting cities in the USA. With iconic historical sights, more top-level sports arenas than you can count, and incredible job opportunities, the Boston area offers a plethora of reasons to visit.
However, whether you’re looking to stop by Fenway for a Red Sox game, explore the world-renowned college campuses in Cambridge, or just travel to Seaport for work, one of the most important parts of your travel journey is your choice of hotel. As many know first-hand, selecting the wrong hotel can make a mess of even the best-planned trip.
Conveniently, Boston has a range of impressive property options within the Hyatt hotel catalog. Hyatt is one of our favorite Hotel chains for using hotel/credit card points (specifically, World of Hyatt points) to book stays, and offers a wide variety of properties across the globe. Due to Hyatt’s static rewards chart, booking your redemptions can often return 2+ cents per point! Chase Bank also enables you to transfer your Ultimate Rewards points directly to Hyatt, further increasing the total point pool for bookings.
To help you decide which Boston/Cambridge Hyatt hotel makes the best sense for your next visit, we’ve compiled a list of recommendations based on both our copious personal experience with these Hyatt properties and popular online sentiments. While everyone’s preference varies and many of the Hyatt hotels not on this list are still excellent, these are our five favorite options based on important factors such as price, location within Boston, range of amenities, overall service, and room quality.
We hope this guide helps you plan your next hotel stay in Boston! Let’s dive into our top 5 recommendations:
The 5 Best Hyatt Properties in Boston
Best for Tourists — Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall Boston
If you’re looking to come to Boston for the first time as a tourist, you’re best off staying in the heart of the historic downtown. In this area, look no further than the Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall, an impressive property that sits just steps away from the iconic Freedom Trail. While this hotel has nice rooms and all the typical amenities that you would expect from a Hyatt Centric (gym, conference area, central location), the unique part about this Hyatt property is its connection to the most famous locations in Boston, including Faneuil Hall itself, Paul Reverse House, the Old North Church, and many more historic centers. Plus, this hotel offers a perfect central starting point to see almost every major district in Boston, including the North End, Seaport, and the Common. If you’re staying in Boston as a tourist, Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall is a great option no matter where you are hoping to visit!
While the price will heavily depend on the dates you choose (don’t be surprised if you are forced to pay a hefty fee around the Boston Marathon, college graduations, or any playoff sports games), a night at the Hyatt Centric can go for as low as $180 a night; however, we find the average price to be ~$300 per night depending on the season.
Overall, if you’re looking for a more boutique feel while still being right in central Boston, this Hyatt Centric is the best option for you.
Best for Points Bookings — Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor
A year ago, there would probably have been another option in this spot for the best Boston Hyatt to book with points. However, with the 2023/2024 changes to the Hyatt award chart, Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor is the only remaining Category 4 hotel in Boston. Therefore, it is now a clear nominee for the best Hyatt in Boston to book with points!
This Hyatt Regency is a perfect example of the value that World of Hyatt Points can bring to your travel. Typically, this hotel goes for ~$400 per night; however, if you book far enough in advance, you can book the exact same room for just 15,000 points per night. This exchange nets out to each point being worth over 2.5 cents—easily the best point redemption value for any of the Boston Hyatts (see below for an example).
Plus, with the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor being located so close to the airport (closer than any other Hyatt property by a substantial margin), this hotel is excellent for helping facilitate any onward travel—just a quick 5 minute drive and you’ll be at your terminal and ready to fly!
Overall, the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor is an excellent Hyatt property that can provide you with exceptional value for your points.
Best for Cambridge — Hyatt Regency Boston - Cambridge
While the Hyatt Regency Cambridge may not technically be in Boston, it is one of our favorite properties across the entire Greater Boston area. Before even arriving at the property, you’ll spot the iconic pyramid building sitting at the seat of the Charles River. After walking in the front doors, you’re treated to a spectacle of a building, with stunning glass elevators and a massive conference area. The rooms at this Hyatt are spacious and the staff have been extremely friendly every time I’ve ever visited the property—everything you would expect from a Hyatt Regency property. Plus, many of the rooms have incredible views of the river and the city skyline.
This Hyatt property is located in a unique area of Camrbdige and is situated right on the Charles River between the Harvard Bridge and the BU Bridge. While this is not the most convenient spot for anyone hoping to visit central or south Boston, it is an incredible starting point for visiting Harvard, MIT, or any other spot between Kendall Square and Harvard Square! However, this Hyatt is a short walk from the Boston University Bridge, making it excellent for anyone hoping to visit BU or the surrounding area. Plus, this property is a straightforward 25-30 minute walk from Fenway Park, making it one of the best hotels in the city for going to a Red Sox game while not having to worry about the noise from the game/area!
Overall, this is one of the most unique Hyatt hotels in the Boston area and a personal favorite of the ETA Points team.
Honorable Mentions
Before wrapping up, we have to give out two honorable mentions for Boston Hyatts we like but that don’t fit into the above categories.
Hyatt Regency Boston: On an average day, this will be the most expensive Hyatt property in Boston. While the property is impressive and located in central Boston (some would argue in a nicer location than the Hyatt Centric), the price often outweighs the marginal benefit compared to some of the other options on our list.
Hyatt Place Boston - Seaport: One of the newest Hyatt properties in the Boston Area, this Hyatt Place is located right on the water and is a straightforward trip to Boston-Logan airport. This is easily the best option for anyone traveling for work in the Seaport area, and will be the only Hyatt that provides easy walking access to Seaport. The only reason that this Hyatt property does not make our above list is that it only makes sense for people staying directly in Seaport, as opposed to traveling elsewhere in Boston; otherwise, you’ll have to Uber/drive everywhere.
Conclusion
If you’re planning a trip to Boston, Hyatt has a variety of properties that can offer a wide range of benefits for all different types of visitors.
