The 5 Best Hyatt Hotels in Tokyo For Points, First-Time Visitors, and More!
Tokyo is undisputably one of the cultural capitals of the world. Anyone who has ever made the trip to Japan can tell you that Tokyo is one of the most incredible travel destinations, with the biggest city in the world rarely disappointing visitors.
However, whether you’re looking to see world-famous shrines (e.g., Senso-Ji, Meiji Jingu, etc.), explore stunning tourist destinations like Tokyo Tower, or just travel for work, one of the most important parts of your travel journey is your choice of hotel. As many will know first-hand, selecting the wrong hotel can make a mess of even the best-planned trip—when you’re making a trip that’s as significant as one to Japan (especially if you’re traveling from the USA or Europe), being confident in your hotel selection becomes even more important.
Luckily, Hyatt—which is one of our top hotel chains for using points to book your stays—offers an extremely wide range of properties in Tokyo. With 8 different Hyatt hotels in the Greater Tokyo area, there is sure to be something for everyone, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler! And to help you figure out which Hyatt hotel makes the most sense for you, we’ve put together a list of recommendations based on our travel to Japan.
With the background out of the way, let’s jump into the list!
The 5 Best Hyatt Hotels in Tokyo
Best for Location - Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo

For travelers hoping to stay in a Hyatt hotel on their next visit to Tokyo, and particularly for those who are visiting Tokyo for the first time, having a good starting location is essential to having the most stress-free and enjoyable travel experience. Luckily for Hyatt fans, the company has a significant presence in the city, with 8 property options in the broader Tokyo area!
But if you’re hoping to have the best possible home base for your next adventure in Tokyo, there is no better option than the aptly named Hyatt Centric Ginza. As the title suggests, this centrally-located property is right in the heart of Ginza, one of Tokyo’s most famous districts located just southeast of the Imperial Palace. Being in Ginza places you right near a plethora of activities and sights; however, for when you want to travel elsewhere, this hotel is also located right near a major subway (Tokyo Metro) station with ample connecting lines to almost everywhere else in the city. Regardless of what you are hoping to see or where you are hoping to go in Tokyo, this central Ginza location will likely be an excellent starting spot.

Plus, while this hotel is relatively cheap compared to some of the other options in the city (though still not cheap by most standards), it consistently has open point availability across the year, even during peak travel periods (e.g., March-May). Cash prices can go as low as $450 per night, and point prices fluctuate between 25k-35k World of Hyatt points per night. Overall, this is an excellent option for travelers wanting to have access to all of Tokyo, and is a personal favorite hotel of the ETA Points team.
Best For Using Points - Grand Hyatt Tokyo

If you’re hoping to use your World of Hyatt points, Chase Ultimate Rewards points, or BILT points, you are spoiled for choice of hotel options in Tokyo. Frankly, if you’re able to plan ahead and beat the rush, Tokyo is one of the better international cities for consistent WoH point value, largely due to Hyatt’s surprisingly large footprint in the region.
However, there is one Hyatt hotel that stands above the rest when it comes to point/reward bookings: Grand Hyatt Tokyo. Located in the Roppongi district (and practically touching an incredibly convenient mall), this hotel is one of the most popular options to book with points due to its consistent value and broad availability across the year. While many hotels in Tokyo can get you >1.5 cents per point you spend, Grand Hyatt Tokyo can net upwards of 2.6+ cents per point!
Cash vs. points rates at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo
In the above booking, we’ve looked at the same room rate for paying cash vs. with points; while the room rates start at ~$800 per night, the points value was fixed at as low as 30,000 points per night, netting out at a whopping 2.64 cents per point! For a Hyatt hotel in a city, this is an almost unheard-of redemption rate. Unfortunately, as of March 2025, almost every Tokyo Hyatt hotel was moved up a Hyatt price category, resulting in them all costing slightly more points per night. Regardless, Grand Hyatt Tokyo still represents much of the best point value you can find across the city.
Plus, many parts of the previously dated Grand Hyatt Tokyo have been recently renovated, resulting in a much nicer guest experience. And while the GH Tokyo is not as centrally located as the aforementioned Hyatt Centric, it still offers a great base with ample transport options for those taking their first trip to Japan and planning to explore the Tokyo metropolis.
Best For Luxury - Park Hyatt Tokyo

UPDATE: The Park Hyatt Tokyo is currently closed for (much-needed) renovations until late 2025
If you’re looking for the maximum level of luxury from a Hyatt property in Tokyo, there is no better option than the famous Park Hyatt Tokyo. Not only is this by far the fanciest Hyatt in the city, arguably rivaling the Four Seasons and Shangri-la, but it is also the most expensive Hyatt option in the city (often upwards of $1,000+ per night during peak season).
This hotel has all the amenities that you would expect from a luxury hotel—exquisite service, stunning views of the city (particularly from the higher rooms), and a variety of attractions (great bars, restaurants, and a gym/pool). The rooms are all large by Tokyo standards, and the suites on the higher floors provide incredible views of the city.
While this hotel is closed until the end of 2025, it is definitely one to keep on your list if you like traveling in style.
Best for Long Stays - Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya
An example room image from Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya
For any travelers hoping to stay longer than a week in Tokyo, we recommend looking at Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya. Hyatt House properties are inherently designed to be used for longer stays, often having either a kitchen area or a designated place in the room for laundry. This can be a lifesaver for any travelers staying for long periods, or anyone who is travelling for business and wants to have more control over things like laundry.
Tokyo Hyatt House Shibuya is in a slightly quieter location than several of the other options on this list, meaning it is also a good place for those who want a chance to be able to step away the busyness of the city; however, this property is still located right near the Shibuya Scramble Crossing for anyone hoping to see some of the famous sights or easily travel across Tokyo.
Overall, this property (which is one of the newest Hyatt hotels in Japan) is an amazing option and can often be far cheaper than many of the other more central locations on this list.
Best for Tokyo Disneyland Access - Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay

Finally, if you are hoping to travel to Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea, there is no better option than Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay. While this property is not as fancy as the more downtown options we’ve discussed on this list, it is by far the closest property to these parks, typically only requiring a 15-minute drive. Plus, there is an easy complimentary shuttle directly from the property, so you likely won’t have to worry about sourcing your transport to the park. For anyone traveling with children, this can be a game-changer and can dramatically improve your trip to either of the parks.
While this hotel is far less convenient for exploring downtown Tokyo, it is in the perfect location for easy access to either Disney property! Plus, you can often find great value with cash and point prices at this hotel compared to several of the other Tokyo Hyatt properties.
Summary
Overall, if you are planning a trip to Tokyo, you are spoiled for choice of Hyatt properties. The quality of Tokyo Hyatt hotels is extremely high, so you luckily can’t go wrong no matter which option you choose. Point and cash prices can also vary dramatically, so we recommend looking at the prices for all the properties on your specific dates to see where you can find the best value.
