How to Combine Chase Ultimate Rewards Points and Bilt Rewards Points

Combine Chase and Bilt points

Chase Bank and Bilt Rewards (Wells Fargo) are two extremely popular US credit card providers, with both organizations offering a plethora of cards with excellent rewards programs, making them a great choice for travelers and those who want to earn points for cash back or other rewards. Two of the most popular cards on the market are the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Bilt Rewards Visa, resulting in many individuals holding both cards and reaping the benefits of both ecosystems.

However, these two rewards programs have no shared point earning—if you earn points in one system, it is impossible for the points to be transferred to the other! This leaves many individuals with the Bilt card and Chase cards stuck trying to prioritize one card or the other, and often end up losing out on travel redemptions to those with more consolidated points. Cardholders often have enough points across their accounts to go on their dream vacations, but can’t book anything as their points are split between the two systems!

However, there is a way that you can use both your earned Chase points and Bilt Rewards points for the same travel redemption. While you can’t combine the points in the bank portals themselves, you can combine them in what we consider to be the next best thing:

Shared Transfer Partners

Bilt and Chase have a selection of point transfer partners that are shared between the two rewards programs, allowing you to transfer your points from both of the two card issuers to these partner airlines and hotels to get even more value.

For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of transfer partners, one of the ways you can use your points from most credit cards is to transfer them to a travel partner. When you transfer your points to a partner, you move these points from your credit card account with the bank (e.g., Chase, American Express) to the airline’s miles or hotel’s points.

After you move the points, you can use them to directly book flights, hotels, and other travel expenses with the travel partner. These points can also be used to upgrade your seat/room or to book experiences such as tours and activities. Since these points or miles typically transfer at a 1:1 ratio with Chase/Bilt points, you won’t lose any value when you make the transfer!

The value of your points will vary depending on the partner you choose and the redemption option you select. However, you can potentially get more value for your points by transferring them to a partner than by redeeming them directly through the rewards program. Additionally, you won’t have to worry about booking any travel through a third party like the bank!

Now that the basics are out of the way, let’s break down the best transfer partners that are shared between Chase and Bilt Rewards:

For Hotel Stays: World of Hyatt

If you’re hoping to use your Chase Bank UR points and Bilt Rewards points for hotel stays, there is no better option than World of Hyatt. Unlike most hotel brands that price their reward stays on a hotel-by-hotel and demand-variable basis, Hyatt has a set list of tiers for categorizing hotel value (1-8 for hotels, A-F for all-inclusive resorts). Because of this system, it is significantly easier to get good deals on hotel stays using Hyatt points than using other hotel points. When you include the World of Hyatt credit card (which comes with Discoverist status at Hyatt), you suddenly can get a luxurious hotel experience for just $95 a year.

Hyatt is also a shared transfer partner of both Chase Bank and Bilt Rewards, allowing you to practically combine your points across the two systems for the same reward booking! With Hyatt, this can be incredibly valuable—see below for an example of booking with cash vs. WoH points at a luxury hotel (in this case, Alila Kothaifaru Maldives):

Overall, Hyatt is an incredible option for getting excellent value out of combining your Chase and Bilt Rewards points.

For Domestic Travel: United Airlines

If you plan to use your combined Chase and Bilt points to travel domestically, United Airlines is easily your best option. Not only is United the only domestic airline partner that is shared between the two platforms, but it also provides good value for point bookings, and especially cross-coast travel (e.g., BOS-LAX). United is one of the best airlines to fly from Boston-Logan, Los Angeles (LAX), and Denver, giving you easy access to many destinations across the country.

United also has one of the most straightforward systems for booking reward flights; all you have to do is select the “book with miles” option when inputting your travel details, and the point prices will automatically appear in an easy-to-read format! While United MileagePlus is not the most valuable reward ecosystem in the world, it is extremely consistent for domestic bookings. Plus, United miles can be used to book international flights through the Star Alliance network, letting you use your miles to fly all over the world!

For International Travel: Virgin Atlantic & Flying Blue

If you’re hoping to travel internationally from the USA, the two airlines that consistently offer the best reward bookings and ecosystems are Virgin Atlantic and Air France/KLM’s Flying Blue.

Both Virgin and AF/KLM are best set up for international travel to Europe—compared to many of the American airline options that fly to the UK (e.g., Delta, United), Virgin Atlantic is almost guaranteed to get you to the UK for fewer points than any other airline. However, that does not mean that you can’t explore elsewhere on these two airlines; due to their participation in the SkyTeam airline alliance, you can use Virgin/Flying Blue miles to book flights to almost every continent.

Plus, both Virgin and Flying Blue are partners of almost every major point ecosystem, with the ability to transfer points from Chase, American Express, Capital One, as well as Bilt Rewards! Both of these programs offer excellent value for your credit card points, with good availability for cheap economy flights and luxurious first-class travel alike.

Summary

As you can see, there are a plethora of options for combining your Chase Ultimate Rewards points and your Bilt Rewards points to make the most of your travel! Not only does making use of both these point ecosystems help you fly for cheaper than you otherwise would have been able, but it also lets you potentially fly in more luxury.
