The 5 Best Hyatt Hotels in London For Tourists, Business, and More

London skyline

London is widely considered one of the world's capitals and a globally acclaimed tourist destination. With a vibrant history, seemingly unending culture, and more pubs than one can count, London undoubtedly has something for everyone.

However, whether you’re looking to attend a world-class sporting event/concert, explore iconic tourist destinations, or simply travel to enjoy a brilliant cup of tea, one of the most important parts of your travel journey is your choice of hotel. Choosing the wrong hotel can make an exciting expedition into a massive headache.

Luckily, London also has some of the nicest urban hotels in the world and a good range of options within the Hyatt catalogue. To anyone who is unfamiliar, Hyatt is one of the best hotel chains in the world for using points (specifically, World of Hyatt points) to book stays. Due to Hyatt’s static rewards chart, redemptions can often return 2+ cents per point! Chase Bank also lets you transfer your Ultimate Rewards points directly to Hyatt, further increasing the total point pool for bookings.

To help you figure out which London Hyatt property makes the most sense for you to stay at during your next London adventure, we’ve put together a list of recommendations based on our personal experience and thorough research. While everyone’s personal preference varies and many of the Hyatt hotels not on this list are still excellent, these are our five favorite options based on important factors such as price, location within London, range of amenities, overall service, and room quality.

We hope this guide helps you plan your next hotel stay in the wonderful city of London! Let’s jump into our list of recommendations:

The 5 Best Hyatt Properties in London

Best for TouristsGreat Scotland Yard

Great Scotland Yard

One of the most famous Hyatt properties in London is the Great Scotland Yard (GSY) hotel. Not only is the GSY one of the most iconicly named properties across the entire Hyatt range, but it’s also one of the more central Hyatt hotels in London.

Great Scotland Yard is an incredibly unique property and among the most luxurious 5-star Hyatt hotels in the country, providing a wide range of top-tier amenities and dining options. GSY does an excellent job of making every stay feel luxurious, and I always leave feeling pampered (free breakfast for everyone is an amazing benefit that we wished more hotels copied)! However, our favorite part of the Great Scotland Yard property, and why we recommend it as the best London hotel for tourists, is the location and proximity to attractions.

Great Scotland Yard is located in one of the best spots for exploring common tourist attractions in London

Great Scotland Yard is located in the best spot in London for visiting the most recognizable landmarks. Not only is this property right off the Thames, allowing for easy travel across the rivers, but it is also within short walking distance of the National Gallery, the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, and the Royal Opera House. For a first-time visit to London, you can’t ask for a better starting location. Despite Great Scotland Yard being located directly in central London, you won’t have to worry about any street noise; the property is tucked away on a surprisingly quiet side street away from the fanfare.

While staying at the GSY won’t be cheap (depending on the time of year, between $250 and $600 a night on average), it is unchallenged as the best Hyatt hotel in London for tourists and anyone wanting a relaxing stay in downtown Central London!

Best for Luxury & Business Travel Hyatt Regency Churchill

Hyatt regency churchill

If you’re traveling for business, we strongly recommend checking out the Hyatt Regency Churchill. The Regency is one of the most reputable 5-star Hyatt hotels in London and is known for providing an immaculate experience to its guests. Out of all the London Hyatt properties we’ve stayed at, the Hyatt Regency Churchill had by far the best customer service and staff—while we may have just caught them on a good day, the staff at the Regency made us feel special.

One great element of the Hyatt Regency Churchill is its location in Central London without being in the more touristy areas. Unlike Great Scotland Yard and other hotels located in the middle of the most touristy areas of London, the Regency is tucked away in western Marlybone, a much quieter area of the city. While nowhere in London is truly quiet, this area provides a much better set-up for working and business compared to other Hyatt properties.

It always helps if you can expense/write off nights at the Regency Churchill, as this property will cost you at least ~£300 per night and can go as high as £650 a night during busy seasons and holidays. However, we feel this price is justified for what you get, as the impressive service and excellent dining options in the hotel left us excited to stay at the property again!

Best for Travel Onward From London Andaz London Liverpool Street

Andaz London Liverpool St Hotel

Unsurprisingly, Hyatt has a plethora of fancy properties located throughout London, each with their own merits and downsides. However, if you’re looking to travel elsewhere in the UK outside of London, your starting location can make a significant impact on the quality of your travel. In general, we recommend staying within the proximity of a major train station when traveling outside of London to help reduce stress and commuting time. As anyone who has spent time in London can tell you, commuting traffic at peak times can be horrendous, and staying near your train station is an excellent way to help reduce any possible headaches.

However, you also don’t want to sacrifice quality for a conveniently located hotel—that’s why we recommend the Andaz London Liverpool Street property. The Andaz has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from the Andaz brand—such as a stunning room to eat meals in, unique decoration and style throughout the property, and excellent service—while also being a minute’s walk from London Liverpool Street Station (one of the best train stations for travelling anywhere else in the UK).

Overall, while this hotel may not be as fancy as the previous entry on this list, it’s excellent location makes it a great option for anyone spending time in London and connecting on to go elsewhere in the country!

Best for a Budget Hyatt Place London City East

Hyatt Place London City East

If you’re looking to stay at a Hyatt property in London on a budget, there is one clear winner: Hyatt Place London City East. Don’t get us wrong, this Hyatt Place still isn’t cheap, as London hotels are costly across the board. However, this property is by far Hyatt’s cheapest option which isn’t located at an airport.

For most of the year, stays at the Hyatt Place London City East in a basic king bed will cost ~£150 (~$190) per night. Compared to almost all the other Hyatt properties in London (which are overwhelmingly 5-star properties), this Hyatt Place is a welcome break for the budget!

Don’t fret; just because this hotel is cheaper does not mean you’re sacrificing a nice stay. While the Hyatt Place won’t blow you away with its amenities like some of the other hotels on this list, if your goal is to stay at a Hyatt in London for as cheap as possible, the Hyatt Place checks all the boxes. It’s still fairly central (with easy tube links to the rest of London), has a restaurant and gym, and is rated well in terms of cleanliness.

Best for Booking with Chase/Hyatt Points Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars

Hyatt regency london blackfriars

If you’re hoping to use your Chase Ultimate Reward points or your World of Hyatt membership points to cover your next step in London, the best hotel for you is the Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars. This Hyatt Regency is an incredibly well-rounded hotel right in the middle of the City of London. While it’s not going to win an award for being the most luxurious hotel in the city, this 5-star hotel still has all of the top-tier amenities you would expect from a major urban hotel.

This hotel has one of the best locations of any of the Hyatt properties for getting around London, and is especially well-suited if you’re planning to go to the Tate Modern, St Paul’s Cathedral, or any of the other surrounding attractions. The ability to quickly hop across the river or take the Circle or District lines means you have almost instant access to every corner of the city.

Yet, the reason that this hotel stands out over all the other Hyatt properties is its point redemption rate. For off-peak bookings (e.g., mid-week or stays during the winter months), this hotel will cost you ~£300 (~$375) or 20,000 Hyatt points, netting out to ~1.5 cents per point.

However, the point price for this property is stable regardless of demand; for the most part, the Regency will cost you ~20,000 points per night regardless of the cash price. This means that if you were to book on a popular date (i.e., New Year’s Eve), you can get an incredible redemption rate.

London regency blackfriars point redemptions

For the example above, we booked a night on NYE for only 20,000 points which would’ve otherwise cost £637 (~$800), netting out to 4 cents per point! This is one of the best point redemption rates of any of the luxury hotels in London and a huge boon for the wallet.

Summary

No matter your reasoning for traveling to London, there is a Hyatt property that can fit your needs. In this article, we’ve covered our five favorite London Hyatt hotels; while we stick by these recommendations, we also wanted to give a shoutout to a few honorable mentions:

  • Hyatt Place Heathrow Airport (the cheapest Hyatt in Greater London and a great deal for airport stays with points)

  • The Portobello Hotel (a cheaper luxury option for those seeking a great experience at a lower price)

We hope this article was helpful in planning your next stay in London! If you’re interested in earning lots of Hyatt points, consider getting the World of Hyatt credit card.
